You have, perhaps heard that the Association for Downloadable Media (ADM) has formed. You may also have learned that an alternative industry association is being contemplated by an informal working group of podcasters and bloggers who share a variety of concerns with what they saw initially and are seeing from the ADM’s initial formation efforts.

This site has become a temporary home for some of the work being done by the informal working group.

1. The Survey. The informal working group has formed a survey to help give voice to some of the concerns being raised. (Take the Survey)

2. At the conclusion of the survey, users are linked to The Survey Thank You Page on this site. You may want to check this out. It contains a list over over 20 people who have indicated that they plan to blog or podcast about the survey, the ADM, etc. It also shares a few highlights of what some Podcasters have said about it all.

3. You may feel free to add comments to this post to broaden the conversation, also.

I am Lee Gibbons, founder and CEO of Podango, a podcasting company. I have set up this domain and blog as an ad hoc attempt to kick start a podcasting association that might unite podcasters worldwide and provide a foundation of communication and interaction that will facilitate the growth and development of the podcasting movement. With the creation of this organization, I acknowledge the many useful and helpful forums and blogs that already exist for siimilar purposes. My wish is not to supplant any of them, but only to create a more formal organizational body that might create a united voice by which we may do more, additional good.

A few key initiatives motivate the initial creation and maintenance of this site:

The establishment of an independent organization that can support of the growth and activities of the Open Metrics initiative (see openmetrics.org)

Establishment of a podcasting association organization including it’s charter, initial leadership, and operating rules

Establishment of a Podcasting Association Mission Statement

Establishment of a Podcasting Industry Wiki that I hope will include all sorts of information to help peple succeed in podcasting

Above all, welcome! Please contribute to help make the Podcasting Association a success at meeting your needs and the needs of other podcastsers.
More posts and information to follow.
